  • Fit, alter and sew theatrical costumes to the specifics requested by management, in a timely fashion.
  • Laundry: washing, ironing, steaming, pressing, categorizing laundry by show.
  • Possible pattern making, draping, cutting and dying.
  • Inventory and pack road boxes for offload.
  • Organize stock areas, costume racks and road boxes.
  • Any other duty deemed necessary by management pertaining to the costume department.


  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Theatrical Costuming preferred; or any equivalent combination of relevant and work related skills and experience;
  • Minimum 2 years costume shop experience in theatrical costume building and alteration, OR
  • Minimum 2 years of ship experience fitting and altering costumes, OR 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working on tour or in summer stock companies in the costume department.


  • Experience in alteration, pattern making, draping, hand and machine sewing, washing, dying, millinery, craft building and repair, dressing, backstage track creation, shoe repair.
  • Understanding of theatrical wardrobe practices and principles.
  • Sound problem-solving skills.
  • Work well with different personalities and nationalities within the cast and crew.
